Katherine Noonan began her musical journey in fourth grade when she received her first guitar as a Christmas present. From that moment, she started making up songs and quickly discovered her love for songwriting. Her passion for music only grew during high school, where she wrote her first full-length song, a special tribute to her sister who was leaving for college.
Reflecting on her creative process, Katherine shares, "Writing music has always been a way for me to express my thoughts and emotions, even when I didn't fully realize it. I often discover the meaning of my songs as I write them, which is a really therapeutic experience."
Katherine's music career has been shaped by the unwavering support of her family and friends. Her parents and sister have always encouraged her to pursue what she loves, while mentors like Marty and Julian from Valor have helped her bring her music to life. “Without their belief in my music, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to record and release it,” Katherine says.
Currently studying Psychology and Spanish at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Katherine has enjoyed living in Music City, where she’s had the opportunity to perform at open mic events and immerse herself in the local music scene. Despite her busy academic schedule, she has continued to write and create, and even won the Most Prolific Writer award during her high school years. The album cover art for her upcoming release holds special meaning, as it’s a photo taken during the time she finished the album, giving it a personal touch.
For Katherine, music is not just a personal endeavor; it’s a way to connect with others and share a message of hope. Inspired by her faith, she hopes that her songs glorify God and offer comfort to listeners. "I want my music to help people feel seen and understood, even in their hardest moments," she explains.
As she looks ahead, Katherine envisions continuing to write music. She hopes to explore more songwriting opportunities in the future while always staying true to her passion for creating meaningful and heartfelt songs.
